NATIONAL U15’S CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPLeek entertained a strong Moddershall side on Friday evening in the northern area
semi-final of the above competition and, in an excellent game of cricket, Leek secured victory off the last ball of the game to win by 2 runs.Leek lost the toss and were asked to bat first. Their total was built around two solid knocks, one by Alex Thompson who hit 50 not out and Oliver Mellor who scored 41. George Mealey also made a valuable 12 before being run out. In their 20 overs Leek amassed a score of 124 for the loss of 4 wickets.
In reply, Moddershall made a valiant effort to pass the Leek score but failed to achieve the 6 runs needed off the final over, which was bowled excellently by Patrick Richardson. On the last ball of the game they needed 2 runs but Richardson kept his cool to clean ball the Moddershall player. Moddershall therefore ended up 2 runs short. The Leek wicket-takers were Nathan Ball with 2 for 30 and Zac Jupp with 1 for 13.
Leek now move on to the northern area final of the county when they have the advantage of being able to play on their own ground. At the present time their opponents are not known.

SOUTH MOORLANDS JUNIOR CRICKET LEAGUE
U15’S SECTIONLeek travelled to Sandyford in their next League game and put in an excellent performance and won the match by 5 wickets.
On winning the toss, Leek asked Sandyford to bat first and in their 20 overs they bowled the opposition out for a total of 53. The innings featured a hat-trick by Haroon Mahmood who ended up with figures of for 4 for 1 from 2 overs. The other Leek wicket-takers were Nathan Ball 1 for 8, Zac Jupp 1 for 15, David Williamson 1 for 5, Patrick Richardson 1 for 5, Cory Taylor 1 for 9 and George Mealey 1 for 0.
In reply, Leek knocked off the runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Major contributions were made by Oliver Mellor with 12, George Mealey with 11 and Zac Jupp with 13 not out.
This win preserved the boys position at the top of the League where they have currently played 4, won 4.

Leek entertained Caverswall on Monday evening and recorded a convincing victory.
On winning the toss, Leek asked Caverswall to bat and they amassed a score of 99 for the loss of 3 wickets. Leek wicket-takers were Basset Mahmood with 2 for 21 from 4 overs and David Williamson with 1 for 5 from 2 overs.In reply, Leek knocked off the runs convincingly with Oliver Mellor scoring 39 (retired), Haroon Mahmood 26, George Mealey 11 not out and Nathan Ball 13 not out. This was another convincing performance by the strong Leek U15’s team who with the halfway mark in the season approaching are establishing themselves at the top of the League.

Re: South Moorlands Junior Cricket League – U15’s
Leek travelled to Bagnall for the next match in the South Moorlands Junior Cricket League and returned with a comfortable victory.
Bagnall won the toss and asked Leek to bat first and they made a very respectable 123 for the loss of 4 wickets. Top scorers for Leek were Haroon Mahmood with 22, George Mealey 28, Nathan Ball 30 not out and Zac Jupp with 14.
In reply Leek managed to give four of their bowlers 2 overs and restricted the opposition to a score of 95 for the loss of 9 wickets. Leek’s best bowler was Bassett Mahmood with 2 wickets for 5 runs.
At the halfway stage in the season, Leek have managed to remain unbeaten and sit comfortably at the top of the League.
Leek have a free week next week but return to action of the following Tuesday with a fixture at Ashcombe Park.
